We visited the lovely Kim Son Charity Home with special gifts for the children. The Lunar New Year, Tet, is the biggest holiday in Vietnam with many wonderful traditions. For poor families, however, it can be a trying time, as they often cannot afford to bring the traditions to their homes, and the prices on everyday goods skyrockets. We wanted the amazing children at Kim Son and their families to enjoy the holiday, so arranged for a surprise treat.

We coordinated with the nuns who run the school, and arranged special Tet gifts for all the children to take home to their families. We gave them some essential foodstuff, including a bag of rice and a box of noodles, to help with the high costs this time of year. For Tet, each child received new clothes to welcome the new year, and a red bag of traditional Tet goodies, including drinks, sweets, and yummy Banh Tet. So many smiles!

This special charity trip was made possible through the kindhearted donations of Betty Lam. Thank you!!!

This wonderful organization offers free primary school education at their charity school, plus free sewing skills training at their free vocational school for those who live in the area of Vinh Luong ward, 15 kilometers north of Nha Trang. Founded at the Kim Son Pagoda  in 1994 by the Buddhist nun Thich Nu Dieu Phuc, it has long been a loving source of education for local youngsters. There are classrooms which grades 1 to 5 split in morning and afternoon shifts, and another room with donated sewing machines for those who want to learn tailoring skills. All of the children are from poor families, and the school exists through the kindness of donations.
