In January 2023 we had a lovely visit at the Hy Vong Home for Disabled Children in celebration of Tet, the Vietnamese Lunar New Year. First, we spoke with the caretakers about bringing food and general supplies for the month, and they provided us with a detailed list. We made preparations for a special holiday visit, loaded up a van with supplies, and drove to the home.
On this visit, we brought boxes of ramen, siracha, packages of noodles, bottles of soy sauce and fish sauce, seasonings, hand sanitizer, peanuts, sugar, bottled water, and dried bamboo shoots.
To celebrate Tet and welcome the Year of the Cat, the children had sweet drinks and snacks. Then we handed out red envelopes of lucky money to the children and the Hy Vong caretakers. Finally, each child got a special Tet care package to take home to their families. These contained sticky rice cake Banh Tet, Tet sweets, sunflower seeds, coffee blends, bird nest drink, and traditional snacks. Everyone was so happy!
This wonderful gift was made possible through the kindness of a family in the USA. Thank you!!!
