On February 5, 2018 we had a Tet party at the Loc Tho Charity School and Orphanage. Run by the amazing nuns of the Loc Tho pagoda, this charity school serves poor communities to the west of Nha Trang. It offers free primary school to neighborhood children whose parents cannot afford the costs of public school. Textbooks, uniforms, backpacks, shoes, and school supplies are all provided to the children, and accredited teachers lead lessons in classrooms at the school. The pagoda also cares for about 20 orphans.
The lunar new year, Tet, is the biggest holiday of the year in Vietnam, and we endeavor to bring the holiday joy to the children. There are many traditional foods, such as Banh Tet, sweets, drinks and fun snacks. Poor families struggle to bring these traditions to their families, so our team prepared special gift bags for each child at Loc Tho.
After our team prepared the gifts, the school children took a break from their studies and came into the common room. After everyone got their Tet gifts, the children sang songs, then went back to their classrooms. It was a big surprise for the children!
This wonderful visit was made possible through the continued kindness of Lloyd and Esther.
Thank you!!!
