In early July 2019 we brought new schoolbooks to the Lac Thien Orphanage plus other supplies. Located in Ninh Hoa to the north of Nha Trang, Lac Thien is a loving home to a large group of orphans. There are several orphan babies at Lac Thien, and the orphanage also takes in elderly whose family cannot care for them.
The 2019-2020 school term begins in late August, and we wanted to get the children ready by buying all the schoolbooks they will need next month. We coordinated with the nuns at the orphanage and learned how many children were in which grades and brought all new textbooks and supplies for the children. We also brought diapers for the babies, cooking oil, brooms, and elderly supplies.
As a fun treat, our coordinators brought fresh rambutans and jackfruit for the children. Everyone gathered in the common room where we handed out the schoolbooks. Then the children got to have their snacks. It was a fun visit!
