In January 2026 we had a great visit with the children at the Loc Tho Charity School. As part of our regular commitment to the children, our team gathered essential food and supplies from local markets and delivered them to the school. On this visit we also bolstered the school’s infrastructure by providing sturdy new tables and chairs, creating a more comfortable and organized space for the children to gather during their daily meals.
This month’s delivery included bulk bags of rice, boxes of both noodles and ramen, milk, sugar, and cooking oil. To provide diverse nutrition, we also included vegan meats and seafood, fresh mushrooms, and vermicelli noodles, along with necessary cleaning supplies and dishwashing liquid.
The highlight of the day took place in the main courtyard. We invited the children to take a well-deserved break from their studies for a surprise treat: hand-delivered ice cream cones topped with rich chocolate sauce. Watching the students gather and enjoy a moment of pure, sugary joy was the perfect way to kick off the new year.
This vital work is fueled by the incredible generosity of the Kinghurst Foundation. Thank you for helping us provide more than just supplies—thank you for providing a better daily experience for these students.
ABOUT THE LOC THO CHARITY SCHOOL
The Loc Tho Charity School, established in 1991 by Sister Thich Nu Dieu Y, has a long-standing history of providing free education to underprivileged children. Sister Dieu Y dedicated her life to this cause, and after her passing in 2014, the compassionate nuns of the Loc Tho Pagoda have continued her incredible work.
This primary school offers a vital service to the community, providing a free education for children whose families cannot afford public schooling. The school covers all expenses, including textbooks, uniforms, shoes, school supplies, and teachers’ fees, ensuring every child has the opportunity to learn. Beyond academics, Loc Tho Charity School also provides breakfast and lunch for its students and offers a nurturing home for several orphans and foster children.
