In late December 2017 we brought some special gifts to the Khanh Son Charity Home. Located in the mountainous area to the southwest of Nha Trang, the Khanh Son Charity Home is a loving place that houses and cares for many of the community’s children whose families struggle to support and provide for them. Some of the children stay at the home year-round, sleep in dormitories, and have meals together in a communal dining hall. The nuns provide a nurturing environment for all, ensure the children attend local public schools, and offer free daycare, kindergarten, and after school tutoring lessons.
We wanted to do something special for the children around Christmas, and contacted the nuns about putting together a holiday project. With many of the children living at the home, supplying food for so many hungry mouths had become challenging. When we asked what we could do for the home, the nuns said they could benefit with having a large freezer, which had been too costly for them to afford. We also got some ideas for Christmas presents for the children, all of whom come from poor families, and rarely get their own gift-wrapped presents.
For this visit, we presented the home with a brand-new freezer, and organized a holiday party for the children. Everyone got their own presents, and it was a very fun occasion. This charity visit was made possible through a donation from the BEI Foundation.
Thank you!!!
