March 2026 brought us back to a place that feels like home: the Loc Tho Charity School. While our visits are a regular commitment, the energy the children bring to every encounter makes each one feel brand new.
Fueling Bright Minds
Our mission began at the local markets, where our team hand-selected a fresh haul of essentials to keep the school’s pantry stocked and nutritious. This month’s delivery featured:
- Pantry Staples: Bags of rice, noodles, sugar, and cooking oil.
- Protein & Veggies: Varieties of mushrooms, vegan meats, and a colorful array of fresh vegetables.
- Flavor & Comfort: Boxes of instant soup, soy sauce, fried rice, and milk.
- Essentials: A fresh supply of cleaning products to keep the learning environment bright.
Exercise, Smiles, and Sweet Treats
The highlight of the day wasn’t just the delivery, but the connection. As our team arrived, the children poured into the courtyard for a well-deserved break. In a wonderful display of health and discipline, they led us through an impromptu demonstration of their morning exercise routines—a sight that truly energized our volunteers!
To cool down after their workout, we surprised the students with ice cream popsicles. There is nothing quite like the quiet, happy hum of a courtyard filled with children enjoying a cold treat on the steps before heading back to their lessons.

ABOUT THE LOC THO CHARITY SCHOOL
The Loc Tho Charity School, established in 1991 by Sister Thich Nu Dieu Y, has a long-standing history of providing free education to underprivileged children. Sister Dieu Y dedicated her life to this cause, and after her passing in 2014, the compassionate nuns of the Loc Tho Pagoda have continued her incredible work.
This primary school offers a vital service to the community, providing a free education for children whose families cannot afford public schooling. The school covers all expenses, including textbooks, uniforms, shoes, school supplies, and teachers’ fees, ensuring every child has the opportunity to learn. Beyond academics, Loc Tho Charity School also provides breakfast and lunch for its students and offers a nurturing home for several orphans and foster children.
