In June 2025, our team visited the Lac Thien Orphanage, bringing with us a substantial delivery of food and essential supplies.
Our visit began by consulting with the dedicated caretakers to understand their most pressing needs for the month. Armed with a comprehensive shopping list, our volunteers then ventured to local markets, meticulously sourcing every item required. Once all provisions were gathered, we loaded them into a van and made the journey to the orphanage.
Upon our arrival, we carefully organized the supplies in the main common area. The children eagerly joined in, helping our team arrange the various items. This month’s donation included a wide array of necessities: noodles, fish sauce, detergent, floor soap, mushrooms, cooking oil, milk, diapers, bath towels, t-shirts, and assorted seasonings.
To add a touch of joy to the day, we distributed snacks to all the children, creating a delightful atmosphere. It was truly a rewarding and lovely day for everyone involved.
This impactful charity visit was made possible by the generous contributions of Jef O’Riley, Florian De Rop, Luanne Lemmer, and an anonymous donor. We extend our sincerest gratitude for their kindness and support.
ABOUT THE LAC THIEN ORPHANAGE
Founded in 2006, the Lac Thien Orphanage is part of the Phat Buu pagoda and lies north of Nha Trang in Ninh Hoa district. The orphanage’s origins are endearing. On a peaceful day, a baby was left at the gates of the pagoda. The nuns cared for him, and from that day on they have taken in orphan children from the area. The orphanage is run by the nuns of the pagoda and its head nun, Chon Minh. They rely entirely upon donations, most of which come from people in the community. There are about 30 children at the orphanage, from newborns to teenagers, and Lac Thien also takes in elderly whose family cannot care for them.
