In January 2026, our team had the privilege of returning to Lac Thien Orphanage. By working closely with the dedicated staff to identify their most pressing needs, we were able to coordinate a delivery that made a direct, tangible impact on the children and their caretakers.
Delivering the Essentials
Our volunteers arrived with a van packed to the brim. The main courtyard buzzed with energy as we unloaded a comprehensive range of supplies, including:
- Pantry Staples: Large bags of rice, sugar, cooking oil, noodles, and seasonings.
- Nutrition: Baby formula and a variety of flavored milks.
- Hygiene & Care: Toiletries, shampoo, bar soap, and dishwashing liquid.
- Maintenance: A fresh stock of cleaning supplies.
The highlight of the day was seeing the children gather around as we shared snacks and smiles. It was a beautiful reminder of why this work matters.
With Gratitude
A big thank you to our generous donors: Ronald Schierer, Vanessa Nguyen, Shaun Minn, Alysha Sims, Linh Lam, Koshu Takatsuji, Dao Giving Fund, and Facebook birthday fundraisers for Melissa Vo and Ralfs Geburtstags-Spendenaktion. You are truly making a difference!
ABOUT THE LAC THIEN ORPHANAGE
Founded in 2006, the Lac Thien Orphanage is part of the Phat Buu pagoda and lies north of Nha Trang in Ninh Hoa district. The orphanage’s origins are endearing. On a peaceful day, a baby was left at the gates of the pagoda. The nuns cared for him, and from that day on they have taken in orphan children from the area. The orphanage is run by the nuns of the pagoda and its head nun, Chon Minh. They rely entirely upon donations, most of which come from people in the community. There are about 30 children at the orphanage, from newborns to teenagers, and Lac Thien also takes in elderly whose family cannot care for them.
