In March, our team returned to Suoi Cat Charity Home to check in with the children and staff. To ensure we were providing the most effective support, we consulted with the caretakers first to identify their current priorities before heading to the local markets.
We were able to deliver a full van of essential supplies, focusing on a mix of nutrition, hygiene, and educational materials. This month’s delivery included:
- Pantry Staples: Rice, shrimp noodles, cooking oil, seasonings, and chili sauce.
- Protein & Dairy: Fresh eggs, sausages, fresh milk, and soy milk.
- Snacks & Treats: Cereal, rice cakes, cookies, shrimp crackers, and jelly.
- Household & School Needs: Laundry detergent, toiletries, mosquito coils, flour, and whiteboard markers.
The day ended on a high note as we shared popsicles with the group. A few of the boys even climbed the local coconut trees to harvest fresh fruit for everyone to enjoy before we departed.
We are sincerely grateful to our donors for making these consistent monthly visits possible: Steven Burger and an anonymous donor. Your contributions directly provide the stability and supplies these children rely on.
ABOUT THE SUOI CAT CHARITY HOME
Suoi Cat is a poor community to the west of Nha Trang, composed of rural farming hamlets that live in poverty. The Suoi Cat Charity Home is a loving place that houses and cares for many of the community’s children whose families struggle to support and provide for them. The home is composed of adolescent and teenage girls who stay at the home year-round, sleep in dormitories, and have meals together in a communal dining hall. The nuns and caretakers who run the home come from the nearby Suoi Dau Catholic Church and provide a nurturing environment for all. They ensure the children attend local public schools and provide after school tutoring lessons. The same caretakers previously supported young boys in the community who stayed at the Suoi Dau Charity Home. Some of the same boys receive tutoring at Suoi Cat during the day, then return home to their families in the evening.
