In June 2021 we had a great visit with the children at the Lac Thien Orphanage. After speaking with the nuns at the orphanage, we made a detailed list of items they were in need of, and made a big shopping trip to local markets. Our volunteers loaded up a truck with everything and drove out to the orphanage.

We stacked everything in the main common room as all the children gathered around. On this visit, we brought dried fish, dried squid, baby formula, baby food, racks of eggs, butter, pepper, seasonings, milk, condensed milk, fabric softener, buckets, cutlery, peelers, brooms, dust pans, garbage cans, and light bulbs.

Our team handed out balloons and treats to all the little ones and there were smiles all around. It was a very fun visit!

This charity trip was made possible through kindhearted donations from Elaine Nguyen, Hung Pham, Michael Phan, Ronald Schierer, Duc Buckius (in memory of Dang Thi Thong), Linh Lam, Daniel Cole, and KTD Services LLC. Thank you!!!

ABOUT THE LAC THIEN ORPHANAGE

Founded in 2006, the Lac Thien Orphanage is part of the Phat Buu pagoda and lies north of Nha Trang in Ninh Hoa district. The orphanage’s origins are endearing. On a peaceful day, a baby was left at the gates of the pagoda. The nuns cared for him, and from that day on they have taken in orphan children from the area. The orphanage is run by the nuns of the pagoda and its head nun, Chon Minh. They rely entirely upon donations, most of which come from people in the community. There are about 30 children at the orphanage, from newborns to teenagers, and Lac Thien also takes in elderly whose family cannot care for them.
