In early May 2020 we had a fun visit with the children at the Suoi Dau Charity Home. We had contacted the caretakers and made a list of their current needs. Out team of volunteers did lots of shopping at local markets, loaded up a truck, and drove out to the Home.

The children were very helpful and carried all the provisions to the main common area. On this charity trip, we brought many boxes of instant noodle varieties, bottles of cooking oil, bottles of soy sauce, bottles of fish sauce, and chili sauce, laundry detergent, dish soap, shampoos, and cleaning supplies.

Our coordinator Mai Khanh handed out some balloons to make the occasion festive. We then handed out sweet breads to the children, and plates of candied pastries. It was a very fun visit!

This charity visit was made on behalf and in memory of Vinh-Quang Hao Nguyen.

ABOUT THE SUOI DAU CHARITY HOME

The Suoi Dau Charity Home is located in Suoi Dau district near Suoi Cat, which are both poor communities to the west of Nha Trang composed of rural farming hamlets that live in poverty. The Suoi Dau Charity Home is a loving place that houses and cares for a group of the community’s young boys whose families struggle to support and provide for them. The boys stay at the home year-round, sleep in dormitories, and have meals together in a communal dining hall. The boys all come from the ethnic Raglay minority group. Overseen by pastor Dam Nguyen, the caretakers who run the home provide a nurturing environment and ensure the children attend local public schools and provide after-school tutoring lessons.
